editorial standards

wagl is a small, independent house of curation for the objects of a dog's life, run by its founder, Joseph Gahagan. these are the rules we hold ourselves to. they are written down so that you can hold us to them too.

how a piece is chosen

every entry in the edit is chosen by Joseph. we include a piece only if we would recommend it whether or not wagl earned anything from it. we look at material, construction, finish and how a piece will age. we would rather show fewer pieces than everything available.

how wagl is paid

most entries link to the house or retailer that sells them. some of those links are affiliate links: if you buy through one, the retailer may pay wagl a commission. the price is set by the retailer, and wagl does not add to it. each such button says so directly beneath it, and our affiliate disclosure explains it in full.

what no one can buy

houses, retailers and makers cannot pay to be included in the edit, or for a better place in it. commission rates do not decide what we show, or in what order.

what we say, and how we know

• materials, dimensions and origin come from the retailer's or maker's own listing. when a detail is not stated, we say so rather than guess.
• prices are copied from the retailer and carry the date they were last checked. they can change after that date; the retailer's price is the one that applies.
• "sold, shipped and returned by" names who you buy from. for entries sold by a retailer, wagl does not hold, ship or handle returns.
• unless an entry says otherwise, wagl has not handled the piece.
• each entry carries a short note on why it is here, signed by Joseph. it is an opinion, kept to what we can stand behind.

what you will not find here

no ratings or reviews we have not received. no stock counters, countdowns or invented scarcity. no discount codes or pop-ups. no press logos or claims of endorsement.

independence

wagl is independent and is not affiliated with the brands it features. a house's name appears only to describe its piece.

pictures

wagl does not have photographs of the objects in the edit. we do not use generated images, and we do not use retailers' images without permission. the photographs on the site are licensed and credited on our image credits page.

corrections

if something on wagl is wrong, write to hello@wagl.com. we reply to every message. we correct errors and say what changed.
